Alexis Mac Allister: Argentina poised to face winner of Ecuador vs Mexico

Mathematically speaking, Alexis Mac Allister and Argentina could still face any Group B opponent in the quarter-finals. However, one outcome is emerging as likely based on current standings and upcoming matches. Ecuador and Mexico face off, with the two national teams sitting second and third in Group B. Each team’s placement will hinge on how Venezuela fares against Jamaica, which is a match the South American side should finish with three points.

In this event, a win or draw for Ecuador will see Alexis Mac Allister face off against former teammates Moises Caicedo, Pervis Estupinan and Jeremy Sarmiento from Brighton. The second-place team in Group C is almost certainly going to be a team from CONCACAF, as the United States and Panama aim to secure a knockout spot. The USA face an uphill battle to face Liverpool’s Luis Diaz as the Americans take on Bielsa’s Uruguay while Panama just need to beat Bolivia.

With four players, all playing for respectable national teams in Copa America, not only is it very likely Liverpool will have a player in the final, the chances of a Red winning Copa America also seem relatively high.
